Biography
Sol C. Siegel (30 March 1903 – 29 December 1982) was an American film producer. He entered the film industry in Hollywood in 1934, initially working at Republic Pictures before moving to Paramount Pictures in 1940 and 20th Century Fox in 1946.
At 20th Century Fox he produced A Letter to Three Wives (1949) and Three Coins in the Fountain (1954), both nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Other credits from this period include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), Monkey Business (1952) and House of Strangers (1949).
Siegel became Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s first independent producer in 1955 and later served as vice president in charge of production from 1958 to 1962. He subsequently ran his own production company and continued producing until Walk, Don't Run (1966). He was educated at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
