Biography
Spencer Averick is an American film editor and producer. He has maintained a long collaboration with director Ava DuVernay, beginning with her early documentary work and continuing through several features and series.
His editing credits include Middle of Nowhere (2012), Selma (2014), A Wrinkle in Time (2018), When They See Us (2019) and Origin (2023). He also served as producer on the documentary 13th (2016), which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature.
Averick is married to The Simpsons writer and producer Elisabeth Kiernan Averick.
