Biography
Stephen Hopkins is a Jamaican-born British film and television director and producer. Born in 1958, he was raised in Australia and England and educated at Sutton Valence School. He began his career in music videos and second-unit work before directing features.
His film credits include A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), Predator 2 (1990), The Ghost and the Darkness (1996), Lost in Space (1998) and Race (2016). In television, he directed multiple episodes of 24 (2001), serving as co-executive producer on the first season, and an episode of Shameless (2011). He also directed The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), for which he won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special.
