Biography
Steve Gerber was an American comic book writer and television scriptwriter. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he created the Marvel Comics character Howard the Duck and wrote for titles including Man-Thing, The Defenders and the original Guardians of the Galaxy series.
Gerber also worked in television animation, serving as story editor on series such as Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. Joe and The Transformers, and creating Thundarr the Barbarian. He wrote the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'Contagion' (1989) with Beth Woods. He died in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2008 and was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2010.
