Biography

Tanya Moodie is a British-Canadian actor. She was born on 16 April 1972 in Ottawa, Ontario, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after moving to England at the age of 17.

Moodie has an extensive stage career with credits including productions at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre. On screen she is known for playing Meg in the BBC series Motherland (2019–2022), Ella in Sherlock (2010–2017), Joy in The Change (2023–2025) and Isabella Russell-Bailey in The Girlfriend (2025). Other television roles include appearances in Silo, The Sandman and A Discovery of Witches.

She received the Royal Television Society Breakthrough Award in 2020 for her performance in Motherland.
