Biography

Tony Fanning is a production designer and art director working in film and television. He studied stage design at the UNC School of the Arts and Yale School of Drama, and designed the original Broadway production of August Wilson’s Two Trains Running.

As an art director he contributed to films including Forrest Gump (1994), Spider-Man (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Polar Express (2004), War of the Worlds (2005) and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004). He shared a Primetime Emmy Award for art direction on the pilot of The West Wing (2000).

As a production designer his credits include Better Call Saul (2015–2016), Five Feet Apart (2019), Wish I Was Here (2014), Ideal Home (2018) and the series The First Lady (2022). He has received Art Directors Guild Award nominations for his work on Better Call Saul.
