Biography
Tracy-Ann Oberman is an English actress, playwright and narrator. She trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama after studying drama at Manchester University, and spent four years with the Royal Shakespeare Company before joining the National Theatre.
She is best known for playing Chrissie Watts in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (2004–2005, with later appearances) and Valerie Lewis in the Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner (2011–2020). Other television credits include Yvonne Hartman in Doctor Who (2005) and roles in Toast of London and It's a Sin. In 2026 she appeared as Camille in the Netflix series How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.
Oberman has performed extensively in radio and on stage. She was appointed MBE in the 2025 Birthday Honours for services to Holocaust education and combatting antisemitism. She is married to music producer Rob Cowan.
