Biography
Trevor Preston (1938–2018) was a British screenwriter. Born in Erith, Kent, he studied at the Royal College of Art in London. His television career began with contributions to the arts programme Tempo and early writing for children's series, including creating Ace of Wands (1970–72).
He wrote episodes for crime series including Callan, Special Branch and Public Eye (1965). Preston became a core writer for Euston Films productions, contributing to The Sweeney (1975–78) and creating the series Out (1978) and Fox (1980). The latter earned him the 1981 BAFTA Television Writers' Award.
His film screenplays include What the Peeper Saw (1972) and I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (2003). He also wrote single dramas and adaptations such as Thicker Than Water (1993) and Little White Lies (1998).
