Biography
Mike Vardy (1934–2026) was a British television director and producer. Born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, he began his career in live variety shows before directing drama for Thames Television and the BBC from 1965 onwards.
He directed episodes of numerous series, including Public Eye (1965), The Sweeney (1975), Z Cars, Callan, Van der Valk, Minder, Rumpole of the Bailey and The Bill (14 episodes). His only feature film was Man at the Top (1973). He also produced Spring & Autumn (1972) and Sadie, It's Cold Outside (1974). Vardy was married to Sandra Vardy and died on 28 February 2026, aged 91.
