Biography
Ulla Ryghe (1924–2011) was a Swedish film editor. She began her career in journalism before moving into film as an assistant editor at Europa Studios, where she trained under Wic Kjellin, and later at Svensk Filmindustri as assistant to Oscar Rosander.
Ryghe became Ingmar Bergman’s primary editor in the 1960s after stepping in on Through a Glass Darkly (1961) when Rosander was dismissed. She edited eight further Bergman films, including Winter Light (1963), The Silence (1963), Persona (1966), Hour of the Wolf (1968) and Shame (1968). She later worked at the National Film Board of Canada, taught editing and mentored Jane Campion, and published the memoir Travels in Wonderland in 2008.
