Biography

Vera Lewis was an American actress who worked in stage and film. She was born in New York City on 10 June 1873 and died on 8 February 1956 in Woodland Hills, California. She was married to the actor Ralph Lewis.

She began her career in stage productions in Manhattan and made her film debut in 1915. Lewis appeared in more than 180 films between 1915 and 1947, including many silent pictures and a large number of sound-era character roles. Her credits include Intolerance (1916) and Four Daughters (1938), in which she played Mrs. Ridgefield.

She continued working steadily through the 1930s and 1940s, often in supporting parts, before retiring after 1947.
