Biography
Vera West was an American costume designer. She served as chief costume designer at Universal Pictures from 1928 to 1947, overseeing designs for approximately 400 films across genres, with particular prominence in the studio's horror productions.
Her credited work includes The Man Who Laughs (1928), Dracula (1931), The Mummy (1932), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Wolf Man (1941), Shadow of a Doubt (1943) and The Killers (1946). She trained at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women. West was inducted into the Costume Designers Guild Hall of Fame in 2005.
