Biography
Victor Kilian was an American character actor. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he began his career in vaudeville around 1909 before appearing on Broadway from the mid-1920s and making his film debut in the early 1930s. He became a prolific supporting player in Hollywood films of the 1930s and 1940s.
His credits include Only Angels Have Wings (1939) as Sparks, The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) as Darby, Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) as the Baggage Man, and Spellbound (1945) as the Sheriff. He was blacklisted in the early 1950s and returned to the stage; later television work included a recurring role in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1976). He died in Hollywood in 1979.
