Biography

Walter Scott Herndon was an American art director and production designer. He began his career in television, working as an art director on series including Playhouse 90 (1956–1959) and Climax! (1957).

Herndon moved into feature films in the late 1960s and 1970s. His credits include art direction on The Last Picture Show (1971) and Blacula (1972), and production design on Sounder (1972), Mother, Jugs & Speed (1976), Semi-Tough (1977), Norma Rae (1979), Sharky's Machine (1981) and A Soldier's Story (1984). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his television work.

Herndon was born on 7 February 1927 in Atascadero, California, and died on 21 January 1984 in Centralia, Washington.
