Biography
Wayne Bell is an American composer and sound designer. He is credited with the music score for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), which he created in collaboration with director Tobe Hooper, blending original recordings, manipulated instruments and found sounds.
Bell worked on location sound and post-production for the film and contributed to Hooper’s subsequent projects. His composer credits also include Eaten Alive (1976), Last Night at the Alamo (1983) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994). He has worked extensively in sound editing and mixing, notably on several Richard Linklater films including the Before trilogy and Boyhood (2014).
An Austin native, Bell began in local radio before moving into film. In 2025 a restored edition of the The Texas Chain Saw Massacre score was released on Waxwork Records.
