Biography
Yona Speidel is an American writer and producer, also credited as Our Lady J or Lady J. She has written for television series including Transparent (2015–2017), Pose (2018–2021), American Horror Story (2022) and The Boroughs (2026), on which she also served as co-executive producer and wrote the seventh episode.
Speidel grew up in a Mennonite farming community in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She trained as a classical pianist, toured professionally and was the first out trans woman to perform at Carnegie Hall. She was the first out trans writer hired to a television writers’ room and has also directed episodes of American Horror Story and Doctor Odyssey.
