Biography

Aasif Mandvi is a British actor. Born Aasif Hakim Mandviwala on 5 March 1966 in Mumbai, India, he was raised in Bradford, England, and later Tampa, Florida. He studied theatre at the University of South Florida.

Mandvi is known for film roles including Mr Aziz in Spider-Man 2 (2004), Bob Spaulding in The Proposal (2009) and Commander Zhao in The Last Airbender (2010). He appeared as a correspondent on The Daily Show from 2006 to 2017 and has had recurring television roles in series including Evil (2019–2024) as Ben Shakir and The Brink (2015). His stage work includes the Obie Award-winning one-man show Sakina's Restaurant and the Broadway revival of Oklahoma!.
