Biography
Adepero Oduye is an American actor. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 11 January 1978, to Nigerian parents, and graduated from Cornell University.
Oduye trained as an actor after university and appeared in independent films and theatre productions, including regional stagings of Eclipsed and The Bluest Eye. Her breakthrough came with the lead role of Alike in Dee Rees's Pariah (2011). She played Eliza in Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave (2013) and has appeared in The Big Short (2015), Widows (2018) and the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021). She has also directed short films.
