Biography
Al Weaver is an English actor, writer, producer and director. Born Alexander Paul Weaver on 3 January 1981 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, he graduated with a BA in acting from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2003.
His early television roles include Christian in the 2008 series The Devil's Whore and Anthony in the 2013 series Southcliffe. He is best known for playing curate Leonard Finch in the ITV series Grantchester (2014–present). Other credits include Andy Galbraith in Sherlock (2010), the Comte d'Artois in Marie Antoinette (2006), and The Kid in Doom (2005).
On stage, Weaver shared the title role in Trevor Nunn's 2004 production of Hamlet at the Old Vic with Ben Whishaw. He has also worked in film, radio and voice acting, including as Rex in the video game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (2017).
