Biography
Alan J. Higgins (also credited as Al Higgins or Alan Higgins) is an American television writer and producer. He has worked on numerous sitcoms since the early 1990s, including as a writer and associate producer on the first three seasons of Malcolm in the Middle (2000–2006), later returning as a creative consultant. He also wrote for the 2026 revival series Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair.
His other credits include writing and producing roles on NewsRadio (1995–1999), Doug (1991–1996), Mike & Molly (2010–2016), The Kominsky Method (2018–2021) and Bob Hearts Abishola (2019–2024), which he co-created. He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series for Malcolm in the Middle and The Kominsky Method.
Higgins is the brother of actor David Anthony Higgins and producer Steve Higgins.
