Biography
Alec Craig (born Alexander Younger Craig) was a Scottish-born American character actor. He appeared in over a hundred films between 1934 and his death, frequently in small, often uncredited roles.
Born on 30 March 1884 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, he made his screen debut in The Little Minister (1934). He is known for his performances as McCoy in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and roles in films including Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Suspicion (1941), To Be or Not to Be (1942), Cat People (1942), Mrs. Miniver (1942), Gaslight (1944) and National Velvet (1944). He was often cast as stereotypically tight-fisted Scotsmen.
Craig died on 25 June 1945 in Glendale, California.
