Biography
Alice Birch is a British playwright and screenwriter. Born in 1986, she studied at the University of Exeter.
Her plays include Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again., for which she received the George Devine Award, and Anatomy of a Suicide, winner of the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. She wrote the screenplay for the film Lady Macbeth (2016), which won five British Independent Film Awards including Best Screenplay.
Birch has contributed to television series including story editor on Succession, writer on Normal People (2020) and Conversations with Friends (2022), and lead writer on Dead Ringers (2023). Her film screenplays include Mothering Sunday (2021), The Wonder (2022), The End We Start From (2023) and Die My Love (2025).
