Biography

Allan Starski is a Polish production designer and set decorator. Born on 1 January 1943 in Warsaw, he graduated in interior design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1969 and began working in film in the early 1970s.

He is known for his long collaboration with director Andrzej Wajda on films including The Maids of Wilko (1979), Man of Marble (1976) and Pan Tadeusz (1999). Starski won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List (1993), shared with Ewa Braun. Other credits include Europa Europa (1990), Roman Polanski's The Pianist (2002) and Oliver Twist (2005).
