Biography
Andie MacDowell is an American actress and former fashion model. Born Rosalie Anderson MacDowell on 21 April 1958 in Gaffney, South Carolina, she began her career as a model, appearing in campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein, and has been a spokeswoman for L'Oréal since 1986.
MacDowell made her film debut in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) and appeared in St. Elmo's Fire (1985). Her breakout role came as Ann Bishop Mullany in sex, lies, and videotape (1989), for which she received the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama. She went on to star in films including Groundhog Day (1993), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), and supporting roles in Footloose (2011), Magic Mike XXL (2015) and Ready or Not (2019).
In 2021 she co-starred with her daughter Margaret Qualley in the Netflix miniseries Maid, earning a Golden Globe nomination. She began starring in the Hallmark Channel series The Way Home in 2023.
