Biography
Andrea Crisanti (12 June 1936 – 7 May 2012) was an Italian production designer and art director. He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and began his film career as assistant set designer to Mario Garbuglia on The Great War (1959). His independent debut was Maciste in Hell (1962).
Crisanti collaborated frequently with Francesco Rosi from 1970 and with Giuseppe Tornatore on Cinema Paradiso (1988) and A Pure Formality (1994). Other credits include Duck, You Sucker (1971), Nostalghia (1983), Everybody's Fine (1990), The Stolen Children (1992) and Loose Cannons (2010). He received a David di Donatello Award for A Pure Formality and a BAFTA nomination for Cinema Paradiso. From 1995 he taught at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and served as president of the Set and Costume Designers Association.
