Biography

Andreas Schreitmüller is a German producer and commissioning editor. Born on 15 May 1956 in Konstanz, he studied linguistics at the University of Konstanz and the University of Manchester. He worked as an editor at ZDF before joining the Franco-German channel ARTE in Strasbourg in 1991, where he headed the television film department and, from 2000, the feature film department until his retirement at the end of 2021. He has also held an honorary professorship in media studies at the University of Konstanz since 2000.

Schreitmüller has been involved in the production or co-production of numerous German and European films. His credits include Run Lola Run (1998), Good Bye, Lenin! (2003), Head-On (2004), Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005), The Lives of Others (2006) and Victoria (2015). He has received awards including the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Bundesverdienstkreuz.
