Biography

Ariane Labed is a Greek-born French actress and film director. She was born on 8 May 1984 in Athens, Greece, to French parents, and studied theatre at the University of Provence, where she co-founded the Vasistas theatre company.

Labed made her feature film debut in Attenberg (2010), directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari, for which she won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival. She has appeared in films including Alps (2011), Before Midnight (2013), The Lobster (2015), Assassin's Creed (2016), Mary Magdalene (2018), The Souvenir (2019) and The Brutalist (2024), in which she played Older Zsófia. She is also known for directing the short film Olla (2019).

She has been married to filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos since 2013.
