Biography
Ashley Pharoah is a British screenwriter and television producer. Born on 13 September 1959 in Southampton, he grew up in Nailsea, North Somerset, and studied at the University of Sussex and the National Film and Television School, where his graduation film was nominated for a BAFTA.
He began his television career writing for EastEnders in the early 1990s and went on to create series including Where the Heart Is and Wild at Heart. Pharoah co-created Life on Mars (2006–2007) and its sequel Ashes to Ashes (2008–2010) with Matthew Graham, winning two International Emmys for the former. Other credits include Hustle, Case Histories, The Living and the Dead, and Around the World in 80 Days.
