Biography
Bert Schneider was an American film and television producer. With Bob Rafelson he created the television series The Monkees (1966–1968) and formed Raybert Productions, later BBS Productions with Steve Blauner. The company backed several films that helped define the New Hollywood era.
He served as executive producer on Easy Rider (1969), Five Easy Pieces (1970) and The Last Picture Show (1971), and as producer on the documentary Hearts and Minds (1974), which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and on Days of Heaven (1978). Schneider was born in New York City on 5 May 1933 and died in Los Angeles on 12 December 2011.
