Biography
Bradford Young is an American cinematographer. Born on 6 July 1977 in Louisville, Kentucky, he studied film at Howard University.
Young’s credits include Pariah (2011), Selma (2014), A Most Violent Year (2014), Arrival (2016), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and the miniseries When They See Us (2019). For Arrival he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, the first for an African-American in the category. He has also worked on the series JAŸ-Z in 8 (2026).
Young joined the American Society of Cinematographers in 2014. He collaborates on projects under the name Ummah Chroma.
