Biography
C. E. Webber, also known as Cecil Edwin Webber, was a British television writer and playwright. He worked as a staff writer at the BBC in the early 1960s and contributed to the early development of the science-fiction series Doctor Who (1963).
Alongside Sydney Newman and Donald Wilson, Webber co-wrote the first format document for the series. His draft script for the proposed first episode influenced the broadcast version of An Unearthly Child, though he received no on-screen credit. He had previously written for BBC serials including The Silver Sword (1957) and Ask for King Billy (1959), as well as stage plays such as Be Good, Sweet Maid (1957).
