Biography
Rona Munro is a Scottish writer for theatre, radio, television and film. Born in Aberdeen, she studied at the University of Edinburgh and began writing professionally in 1981. She has written plays for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was accepted onto the BBC's writers' training course.
Munro wrote the 1989 Doctor Who serial Survival, the final transmitted story of the original 1963–1989 series. She returned to the programme in 2017 with the episode The Eaters of Light for the revived series, making her the only writer to have contributed to both eras. Her other screen credits include the screenplays for Ladybird Ladybird (1994), Aimée & Jaguar (1999) and Oranges and Sunshine (2010).
Her stage work includes the award-winning plays Bold Girls (1990) and the trilogy The James Plays (2014).
