Biography
Charles Cyphers was an American actor. He was born on 28 July 1939 in Niagara Falls, New York, and died on 4 August 2024 in Tucson, Arizona.
Cyphers trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles City College and California State University, Los Angeles, where he received a BA in theatre arts. He was a member of the Company of Angels theatre company for 25 years and received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his performance in The Caretaker.
He appeared in several films directed by John Carpenter, including Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), The Fog (1980) and Escape from New York (1981). He played Sheriff Leigh Brackett in Halloween (1978), reprising the role in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween Kills (2021). Other credits include Major League (1989) and television series such as Roots and Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher.
