Biography
Christopher Doyle (born 2 May 1952) is an Australian cinematographer, also known as Du Ke Feng or Dou Ho-fung. He is based in Hong Kong and has worked primarily on Chinese-language films.
After leaving Australia at eighteen and taking various jobs, Doyle studied Chinese in Taiwan and worked as a photographer before becoming a cinematographer on Edward Yang’s That Day, on the Beach (1983). He is best known for his long collaboration with Wong Kar-wai on films including Days of Being Wild (1990), Chungking Express (1994), Fallen Angels (1995), Happy Together (1997), In the Mood for Love (2000) and 2046 (2004). Other credits include Hero (2002) and Psycho (1998).
Doyle has won awards for cinematography at the Cannes and Venice film festivals, as well as multiple Golden Horse and Hong Kong Film Awards.
