Biography
Chung Chung-hoon is a South Korean cinematographer. Born on 15 June 1970 in Seoul, he studied theatre and film at Dongguk University, where he directed short films before debuting as a cinematographer on the 1996 feature Yuri.
He is known for his long collaboration with director Park Chan-wook on films including Oldboy (2003), Lady Vengeance (2005), Thirst (2009) and The Handmaiden (2016). His American debut came with Stoker (2013), after which he worked on Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015), It (2017), Zombieland: Double Tap (2019), Last Night in Soho (2021), Uncharted (2022), Wonka (2023), Heretic (2024) and The Running Man (2025).
Chung joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017 and became the first Korean member of the American Society of Cinematographers in 2023.
