Biography
Clarence Wilson, also credited as Clarence Hummel Wilson and under variants such as C. Wilson Hummel, was an American character actor. He appeared in nearly 200 films between 1920 and 1941, most often in supporting roles as an old miser or grouch.
He is known for roles including Sheriff Hartman in The Front Page (1931), Jake Henshaw in Ruggles of Red Gap (1935), John Blakely in You Can't Take It with You (1938), and appearances in several Our Gang comedies, among them as Alonzo Pratt in Come Back, Miss Pipps (1941), his final film. Wilson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and died in Los Angeles in 1941.
