Biography
Craig McKay is an American film editor. Born in New York's Hudson Valley, he began his career as an assistant and associate editor before moving to feature films.
He received Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing for Reds (1981, shared with Dede Allen) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991). He won a Primetime Emmy Award for editing the 1978 miniseries Holocaust. McKay has edited more than forty films, including Philadelphia (1993), Cop Land (1997), K-PAX (2001), Maid in Manhattan (2002) and The Manchurian Candidate (2004). He has had a long collaboration with director Jonathan Demme on seven films.
McKay has also worked as a story consultant, director and producer. He is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has served as a creative advisor at the Sundance Institute.
