Biography
Edward Saxon is an American film producer. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on 17 November 1956, he studied at McGill University, where he founded the Tuesday Night Cafe Theatre, and later at the Peter Stark Producing Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
He was Jonathan Demme's long-time producing partner. Saxon produced The Silence of the Lambs (1991), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Philadelphia (1993), That Thing You Do! (1996), Adaptation. (2002) and Away We Go (2009). He has also served as executive producer on films including Something Wild (1986), Miami Blues (1990) and Devil in a Blue Dress (1995).
Saxon is the endowed Chair of the Peter Stark Producing Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He has made cameo appearances in several of the films he produced, including an uncredited role in The Silence of the Lambs.
