Biography
Cyril J. Mockridge (also credited as Cyril Mockridge) was an English film and television composer. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London before moving to Hollywood in the early 1930s.
He worked as a staff composer at Twentieth Century-Fox for many years, often collaborating with Alfred Newman and Lionel Newman, and contributed music to more than a hundred films between the 1930s and 1960s. His credits include Heaven Can Wait (1943), The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), My Darling Clementine (1946), Miracle on 34th Street (1947), River of No Return (1954), Guys and Dolls (1955) and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962). He received an Academy Award nomination for his work on Guys and Dolls.
