Biography

Danilo Donati was an Italian costume designer and production designer. He was born on 6 April 1926 in Luzzara and died on 1 December 2001 in Rome.

Donati collaborated frequently with directors Federico Fellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Franco Zeffirelli. He won Academy Awards for Best Costume Design for Romeo and Juliet (1968) and Fellini's Casanova (1976), and received numerous David di Donatello awards. Later in his career he worked with Roberto Benigni, serving as both costume designer and production designer on Life Is Beautiful (1997).
