Biography
Dann Florek is an American actor and director, also credited as Ezekial Dann Florek. He is best known for playing Captain Donald Cragen on the television series Law & Order (1990–1993) and its spin-off Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999–2015), and for recurring appearances as Dave Meyer on L.A. Law (1988–1993).
Born in Flat Rock, Michigan, Florek attended Eastern Michigan University, where he initially studied mathematics and physics before receiving a drama scholarship. He trained at the Juilliard School and performed in stage productions at venues including the La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe Theatre. He has also directed episodes of Law & Order.
Florek has appeared in films including Angel Heart (1987), The Flintstones (1994) and Hard Rain (1998). He is married to Karen Florek and his brother Dave Florek is also an actor.
