Biography
David Assael (12 January 1947 – 1 November 2021) was an American television writer and producer. His early credits include episodes of The Love Boat (from 1977), The White Shadow (1980–81), Chicago Story (1982) and St. Elsewhere (1983).
He wrote the teleplay for the Miami Vice episode 'Lombard' (1985) and contributed to Knots Landing (1985), A Year in the Life (1987–88) and Star Trek: The Next Generation (1989), for which he received a story and teleplay credit on 'The Icarus Factor'. Later work encompassed episodes of Northern Exposure (1990–93), Picket Fences (1992), Homefront (1992), Baywatch Nights (1995), Dellaventura (1997) and Call of the Wild (2000). He also wrote the screenplays for the films Evan's Crime (2015) and The Jade Pendant (2017), serving as producer on the former.
