Biography
Maurice Hurley (16 August 1939 – 24 February 2015) was an American screenwriter and producer. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he wrote several episodes of the series Miami Vice (1984), including teleplays for "No Exit", "Golden Triangle (Part I)" and others, and contributed as a writer and teleplay author on 24 (2001). He also used the pseudonym C.J. Holland on some credits.
Hurley served as the first head writer and showrunner on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1989), writing a dozen episodes and creating the Borg. He produced episodes of The Equalizer (1985–1986) and co-created the series Pointman (1995) with Joel Surnow. His later credits include writing and producing work on Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, La Femme Nikita and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.
