Biography
Dennis Christopher, also credited as Dennis Carrelli, is an American actor born on 2 December 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He trained in acting in Los Angeles and New York and began his career in the early 1970s with small film roles and stage work.
His breakthrough came with the leading role of Dave Stohler in Breaking Away (1979), for which he received a BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer and a Golden Globe nomination. Other notable film roles include Charles Paddock in Chariots of Fire (1981), Eric Binford in Fade to Black (1980), and Leonide Moguy in Django Unchained (2012). He has also appeared in Prisoners (2013) and several films nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
On television he played Eddie Kaspbrak in the 1990 miniseries It, Bellegarde in Deadwood (2004), and Cyvus Vail in Angel (1999). He has guest-starred in episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Criminal Minds and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and appeared on Broadway in productions including The Little Foxes.
