Biography

Douglas Milsome is an English cinematographer, sometimes credited as Doug Milsome. Born in 1939 in Hammersmith, London, he began his career in the camera department on films including The Guns of Navarone (1961) as clapper loader.

He worked as a camera operator and focus puller for John Alcott on Stanley Kubrick films such as A Clockwork Orange (1971), Barry Lyndon (1975) and The Shining (1980). Following Alcott's death, Milsome served as director of photography on Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987).

His other credits as director of photography include Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Breakdown (1997), Legionnaire (1998) and Dungeons & Dragons (2000). He is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers and the American Society of Cinematographers.
