Biography
Douglas Walton, also credited as John Douglas Duder or J. Douglas Duder, was a Canadian-born actor who appeared in American films from 1931 to 1950. He began his career in the theatres of Chicago and New York before moving to Hollywood.
He is known for roles including Percy Bysshe Shelley in Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Stewart in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Albert in The Count of Monte Cristo (1934), and Lord Darnley in Mary of Scotland (1936). Other credits include The Lost Patrol (1934), The Long Voyage Home (1940), Murder, My Sweet (1944) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945). He appeared in around 60 films, often in supporting or uncredited parts.
Walton retired from acting in 1950 and later worked as a painter under his birth name. He died in New York City in 1961.
