Biography
Eleanor Methven is an Irish actress. She was born on 7 April 1959 in Magherafelt, County Derry, Northern Ireland. At the age of twenty-three she was one of the co-founders of the Charabanc Theatre Company, which operated until the 1990s; she served as co-artistic director until 1995.
Methven has worked extensively in theatre with companies including the Abbey Theatre. Her screen credits include the role of Patsy in The Boxer (1997), appearances in Disco Pigs (2001) and Becoming Jane (2007), and television roles in Derry Girls (as Aunt Bridie), Normal People (as Bernie), Little Women (as Hannah) and Hope Street (as Lois Dunlop). She has received three Irish Times Theatre Awards and an Irish Times Special Tribute Award.
