Biography
Elizabeth McBride was an American costume designer whose work featured in several notable films of the late 1980s and 1990s. She received her first screen credit on Tender Mercies (1983) and went on to design costumes for Driving Miss Daisy (1989), for which she earned an Academy Award nomination, Thelma & Louise (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994).
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, McBride began her career in Dallas before moving into film. She specialised in period and regional American clothing, particularly Southern styles. Her later credits included Assassins (1995) and Michael (1996). She died of cancer in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1997 at the age of 42.
