Biography

Eric Clapton is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter who has contributed music to several films and television productions. Born on 30 March 1945 in Ripley, Surrey, he is credited with the soundtrack for the 1985 BBC series Edge of Darkness, composed with Michael Kamen.

Clapton has appeared in documentaries and concert films including Tommy (1975), The Last Waltz (1978), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) and Concert for George (2003). He is also known for performances at events such as Live Aid (1985).

His work has earned multiple Grammy Awards and, in 2004, a CBE for services to music.
