Biography
Joel Silver is an American film producer. He began his career at Lawrence Gordon Productions, where he became president of motion pictures, and earned his first screen credit as associate producer on The Warriors (1979). With Gordon he produced 48 Hrs. (1982), Streets of Fire (1984) and Brewster's Millions (1985).
In 1985 Silver formed Silver Pictures. He produced action films including Commando (1985), the Lethal Weapon series, the first two Die Hard films, Predator (1987) and the Matrix trilogy (1999–2003). In 1998 he co-founded Dark Castle Entertainment with Robert Zemeckis. He also co-created the sport of Ultimate.
